PPOC Eastern Image Salon
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MISSISSAUGA,GTA PHOTOGRAPHER SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL EXHIBITION
September 23, 2023: photographer Brian Ackin, has had 4 image(s) selected for exhibition in a regional Salon celebrating the best of Canadian professional photography.
A panel of master photographers judged the best works submitted by professional photographers from Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces as well as other parts of Canada and only accepted outstanding images into the 2023 Eastern Regional Image Salon of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC). The awards were announced this evening in an hybrid (online and in-person) ceremony.
In addition to demonstrating the makers’ ability to create outstanding images for their clientele, inclusion into the salon earns the maker merits toward several designations offered to PPOC members, including the prestigious Craftsman of Photographic Arts and Master of Photographic Arts. The competition features entries from across Canada in 23 different classes, including press, portrait, architecture and fashion.
“Photographers must show extraordinary talent to win an award among such illustrious company,” said Tina Weltz MPA, SPA, Chair of the National Exhibition Committee. “We were thrilled to see so many inspiring entries in the competition this year. The salon images clearly demonstrate the exceptional skill and quality that professionals bring to the medium of photography.”
I am very honoured to have received one Merit and three Accepted images at this year's PPOC (Professional Photographer’s of Canada) Eastern Regional Salon. The process of taking an image from conception to editing to conclusion is multi-layered and by no means linear. With input and advice from others, revision after revision, starting from scratch and then trying again, one learns that an image is really never done. I am thankful to have a cooperative, helpful, and knowledgeable group of fellow photographers in PPOC and am grateful to them for allowing me to reach this new vista. I look forward to more in the future.
